Wild Martha
03:39
|

Friday nights in Louisville were not famous for the excitement or the fun
At 12 they closed the bars
Five past there were no cars
But one day a stranger came and purchased the abandoned house on Main Street
Four blocks away from church
People were outraged
When they lifted up their heads
And saw the sign that read
“Watch out for wild Martha and her gun”.
Pretty soon the streets were filling up with out-of-towners dressed up fancy
Up ‘til Sunday noon
All hotels were full
The stranger hung around and started building up some more hotels on Main Street
To satisfy demand
Put Louisville on the map
Some people were showing content
With the neon sign that read
“Watch out for Wild Martha and her gun”.
Every day the Mayor would receive 100 letters, sometimes more
Complaining about the sin
The city was living in
But the Mayor couldn’t help at all
He could only watch his city grow
The stranger hadn’t broken any law.
Tourism was growing
Foreigners kept on coming
Some were happy about it, some were not.
Everyone could sense
The atmosphere was tense
Something bad was cooking, you could tell.
It all happened Friday night; the midnight show was over at the club
And everyone was drunk
When they walked up to their cars
Soon the flames were rising; you could see the smoke from many miles around
And all throughout the night
The club burnt to the ground
And the only thing the fire saved
Was the neon sign that read
“Watch out for wild Martha and her gun”.
No one was arrested, but the whole town knew who’d done it and what for
But they chose to pass it by
Try to forget the past
And if you go to the old graveyard
You can see it, carved in black
“Here lies poor Wild Martha with her gun”.

David Met The Devil
03:30
|
|||
David met the Devil in the desert
He left Jesus hanging on the cross
He rose up from disappointment
And found a new light in the sand.
A light that was brighter than the sun
A mystery easy to understand
He forgot every lesson
That took him his whole life to learn
Then he stepped down from the altar
David met the Devil, saw the light.
David met the Devil in the desert
Dressed up like a black thunder cloud
His hands were soft, but his eyes were black
His mouth was small but his voice was loud.
Never seen a light so bright before
Never felt this coolness in his soul
He gave himself a new name
And the rain started to fall
While the bright light just kept getting brighter
David met the Devil, saw the light.
Meanwhile in town
The neon signs are glowing
The motorbikes are roaring
And everybody is blind.
David met the Devil, saw the light.
Meanwhile in town
The crosses are on fire
Love flows through a wire
And everybody is blind.
David met the Devil in the desert
He left Jesus hanging on the cross
Nobody knows what happened
They found his body in the sand
And his soul was never found
David met the Devil, saw the light.

Blindness At The Edge
03:48
|
|||
The tide is rising it’s going to drown the shore
Could you tell me when it floods?
My eyes are working fine buta ll i see is dark
And you can’t tell the blind to guide himself
Though I am healthy I’m blind as Hazel Motes
I see no hope in the world
There’s only darkness covering the void
Are you blind as well or is it just me?
Are you blind as well or is it just me?
Yeah, we’re blind and deaf and dumb, who’s gonna guide us?
The blind will guide the blind
Yeah, we’re blind and deaf and dumb, who’s gonna guide us?
The blind will guide the blind
We see no bright light, but we keep going on
Our feet are heavy but strong
We wanna have hope and so we follow those who guide
Funny thing, they can see as much as we do
It’s a funny thing they can see as much as we do.
Yeah, we’re blind and deaf and dumb, who’s gonna guide us?
The blind will guide the blind
Yeah, we’re blind and deaf and dumb, who’s gonna guide us?
The blind will guide the blind
So we are blind men; we haven’t always been
Many of us have done this to themselves
When times are bitter who wants to open up their eyes
Easier to be guided by the blind
Yes, it’s easier to be guided by the blind.
Yeah, we’re blind and deaf and dumb, who’s gonna guide us?
The blind will guide the blind
Yeah, we’re blind and deaf and dumb, who’s gonna guide us?
The blind will guide the blind

Come Judgement Day
05:05
|
|||
It was I who ran away from James Franco
The day that Allen Ginsberg died
Now they’ve tried to sterilize my accent
And they want to crucify my shape
Oh, Come Judgement Day
Tail between your legs
Feeling guilty
Feeling dirty
I left Lindsay waiting at the altar
I killed my father at dinner as a child
Now I’m trying to make peace with my dead son
He died on the last day of the War
Oh, Come Judgement Day
Tail between your legs
Feeling guilty
Feeling dirty
The truth is I don’t care about most people
And most people don’t care about me
I sing about historical heroes
But I don’t know their stories or the song
Oh, Come Judgement Day
Tail between your legs
Feeling guilty
Feeling dirty
Feeling guilty
Feeling dirty
